About
The Foundation
Foundation Erwin Olaf continues Erwin’s advocacy for an equal and emancipated
society with a special focus on supporting creative vocational students (MBO) and
other marginalised groups.
Making visible what too often remains unseen

Erwin Olaf often drew inspiration from his responses to current events, both in the Netherlands and worldwide. Injustice, oppression, and attacks on human dignity stirred his anger and sense of injustice, which became recurring themes in his work. He challenged society’s unwritten rules and revealed the unnatural structures that shape our world, while affirming that love and connection between people—regardless of gender or identity—are the most natural truths we share. This conviction gave his art its
powerful, critical voice.

Building on this legacy, Foundation Erwin Olaf aims to champion the things Erwin stood for through preserving his work, advocating for equality in the cultural sector, and supporting projects that show new perspectives on themes such as freedom, identity, inclusion and social involvement.

Promoting Equality Actively

We will continue his legacy by sponsoring projects that will positively promote an emancipated and free society. Additionally, the Foundation will not shy away from active and current debates and will lay its focus on advocating for freedom and respect. We aim to echo a voice that stands in line with the values that were dear to Erwin Olaf, thereby safeguarding and promoting others’ freedom and opportunities for expression.

Behind the foundation

For years, we’ve had the privilege of working closely with Erwin Olaf, and we bring a shared commitment to his legacy through the Foundation. With our collective expertise, networks, and passion, we are committed to preserving and advancing his impactful vision.
