About
The Foundation
Foundation Erwin Olaf has two pillars: continuing Erwin’s activism for an emancipated free society and supporting creative vocational students (MBO).
Reacting Through Art

Olaf often based his art on his reactions and emotions to current events, both in the Netherlands and globally. Injustice against individuals or groups, sexual oppression, and attacks that troubled and angered him became subjects of his work. He questioned the (unwritten) rules of society and dared to play with them. There is so much that is unnatural about our society, but the feelings and love between people, regardless of their sex, are the most natural things in the world. This belief, along with his anger, created a profound voice in his art. In line with Erwin’s thought process, the Foundation aims to maintain a focus on responding to current events in its project choices.

He was a strong advocate for equality and freedom for all people. He fought for an emancipated society not only by using his camera to highlight the beauty of diversity in humanity and our world but also through engaging in the public debate regarding the need for equality and freedom for the individual. And let’s not forget all the extravagant parties he organized, which were not only a celebration of the beauty he saw in life but also always made sure to actively promote a good cause.
Promoting Equality Actively

We will continue his legacy by sponsoring projects that will positively promote an emancipated and free society. Additionally, the Foundation will not shy away from active and current debates and will lay its focus on advocating for freedom and respect. We aim to echo a voice that stands in line with the values that were dear to Erwin Olaf, thereby safeguarding and promoting others’ freedom and opportunities for expression.
